Overview Cambria is a town in central Niagara County, bordered to the north by Wilson, to the east by Lockport, to the south by Pendleton and Wheatfield and to the west by Lewiston. Cambria has no village but nine hamlets. The town is mostly rural with sprawling farms, fruit orchards, grape vineyards and grain fields. Niagara County Community College is located in the hamlet of Sanborn. Local Museums & Landmarks The Cambria Historical Society is based at the Old Town Hall at 4153 Lower Mountain Road. The North Ridge United Methodist Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighboring town and city of Lockport has a much wider variety of historical sites, mainly focused on the Erie Canal and the canal locks that gave Lockport its name.

Essentials The hamlet of Sanborn, on the western edge of Cambria, has a few stores like Bailly Food Mart, Hoover’s Dairy Store and a CVS Pharmacy. A wider variety of shopping options is close by. For grocery shopping, nearby Lockport has three Top’s Friendly Markets, all of which are about 10 to 12 miles east: on Lockport/Olcott Road, on Rochester Road, and on South Transit Road. The closest Wegmans supermarket is on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, Erie County, about 12 miles south of Cambria. For retail shopping, Lockport has a Walmart Supercenter and other stores. Students here attend one of several school districts; those that serve Cambria residents are the Lockport City School District, Newfane Central School District, Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, Starpoint Central School District (based in Lockport), and Wilson Central School District. The closest hospital is Eastern Niagara in Lockport. Two public libraries serve Cambria residents: Sanborn Pekin Library in Sanborn, and Ransomville Free Library in Ransomville (town of Porter, to the northwest of Cambria).

Sanborn has an art gallery and a place called Wild Kritters of Niagara County. You’ll find more things to do in nearby Lockport, Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda. Lockport’s attractions include the Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises, the Erie Canal Discovery Center, the Lockport Cave and Underground Boat Ride, art galleries and the Historic Palace Theatre. Niagara Falls, about 16 miles southwest, has, of course, the mighty falls and the popular Seneca Niagara Casino. North Tonawanda has the Herschel Carrousel Factory Museum and other sites. Lake Ontario and its shoreline attractions are about 15 miles north. There, you’ll find lots of fishing in the town of Wilson and the Olcott Beach Carousel Park, a small, old-time amusement park.
